THE RISE OF
TANOSHI CAR EVENTS
Founded by Owen Loynes during the UK Covid-19 lockdown in 2020, Tanoshi emerged to fill the void of in-person car events. It started as a virtual car event platform on Instagram, hosting over 100 online events and connecting car enthusiasts during lockdown.
The virtual events gained traction, attracting over 300 active members and featuring activities like car meets and racing on Forza Horizon 4. In May 2022, Tanoshi rebranded as a Surrey-based car event page on Instagram and Facebook. The first in-person event on June 12, 2022, at Cobham Services garnered significant attention, followed by another successful event on July 1, 2022. Cieran Allen joined Owen in organizing events, contributing to Tanoshi's growth.
Attendance has steadily increased to 200+ cars per gathering, showcasing rare vehicles like Retro Porsche race cars, Honda NSX, and movie cars like the tofu AE86. Tanoshi's success highlights a thriving car enthusiast community, with plans for future events promising continued growth and engagement.
